Spyro the Dragon was released on September 10, 1998 for PSX.
Spyro is set out to free his fellow dragons from crystal prisons scattered around their world. Each level of the game is accessed through portals from a mail world. The game ends with Spyro fighting Gnasty Gnorc, the main enemy. -
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage was released on November 2nd, 1999 for PSX.
The game starts with Spyro and Sparx entering a portal to Dragon Shores, looking to have a vacation. It is shown that someone has altered the path of the portal, instead leading them to Avalar. They learn that Ripto is taking over the land. This game introduecd Hunter, Elora, The Professor, and Zoe. The game has the same portal structure as the first, and gives Spyro some new abilities like gliding, swimming underwater, climbing ladders, head-bashing and power-ups. -
Spyro: Year of the Dragon was released on November 30th, 2000 for PSX.
The dragons are celebrating the coming of the dragon eggs, which takes place every 12 years. Bianca and an army of rhynocs come to the dragon worlds and steal all of the eggs. Spyro is the only dragon small enough to follow her down a rabbit hole to the other side of the world- the Forgotten Realms. There he meets Sheila, Sgt. Byrd, Bently, and Agent 9. As they go through the worlds they find out that the Sorceress has stolen the eggs to use the baby dragon's wings' when they hatch. She can use them in a potion to make her immortal. -
Spyro: Season of Ice was released on October 29th, 2001 for Gameboy Advance.
Spyro, Sparx, Bianca and Hunter are on vacation when they find a balloon from Zoe, who has been kidnapped. Grendor had found Zoe's spellbook and while reading upside-down, cast a spell on himself, making him have two heads with 4 headaches. Spyro and friends set off to rescue the fairies Grendor has kidnapped to use to cure his problem. -
Spyro 2: Season of Flame was released on September 25th, 2002 for Gameboy Advance.
This game begins where Season of Ice left off. It takes place on Fiery Island, and Sheila acocompanies Spyro. This is the first game in the entire series that Spyro cam breathe multiple breaths. -
Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly was released on November 3rd, 2002 for Playstation 2 and Nintendo GameCube.
This game changes the original dragonfly concept. It starts out with the dragons in a celebration of the arrival of new dragonfly guardians for young dragons- a rite of passage. Ripto (raised from the dead?) teleports in in the middle of the party and attempts to capture the dragonflies. Instead, he casts a spell and scatters them all over the Dragon Realm. Spyro sets out to find all of the dragonflies. This game had a lot of negative reviews because of glitches, lack of storyline and audio issues. -
Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs was released on October 27th, 2003 for Gameboy Advance.
Spyro and Sparx are with the Professor in his lab. While attempting to show off his latest inventions, he accidentally creates a large portal between the Dragon Realms and the Rhynoc Realms. Spyro, again, must face Ripto and his army of Rhynocs to save the Dragon Realms. -
Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conpsiracy, also known as Spyro Fusion, was released on June 1st, 2004 for Gameboy Advance.
Crash Bandicoot's enemy, Doctor Neo Cortex, has joined Ripto in a plan to get rid of both Spyro and Crash. They must now join forces to defeat their enemies. -
Spyro: A Hero's Tail was released on November 3rd, 2004 for Playstation 2, XBOX and Nintendo GameCube.
This game introduces a new enemy, Red, a former Dragon Elder who was banished many years ago. Red has brought Gnasty Gnorc back to life and Gnasty has returned to the Dragon Realms with his minions. The Professor told Spyro and Sparx the problem. Red and Gnasty were using Dark Gems to fuel their evil power. Spyro set off to destroy the Dark Gems. Old friends along to help Spyro include Hunter and Sgt. Byrd, as well as a new friend, Blink. -
Spyro: Shadow Legacy was released on October 18th, 2005 for Nintendo DS.
Spyro's friends were just leaving from vacation at Dragon Shores. Soon after, Spyro falls asleep on the beach and a dark storm appears and traps everyone within the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Realms in a strange dimension known as the Shadow Realms. A dragon elder, Tomas, grants him the Shadowstone and Spyro must use it to rescue everyone. -
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning was released on October 10th, 2006 for Playstation 2, Nintendo DS and XBOX Live Marketplace.
This game starts a new trilogy within the series that is the Spyro video games: The Legend of Spyro. The game is less platform and more action and combat. The game begins inside a temple where Ignitus is watching over an egg. It is the "Year of the Dragon", which occurs every twelve years and is when the new eggs are brought to the realm. A propechy states that every ten generations, a rare purple dragon will be born to direct the fate of his era. However, the temple is under siege with the enemy's intent to destroy the brood of eggs. Ignitus escapes but lets the egg drift downriver to a swamp, hoping that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. The egg is found by a family of dragonflies who raise the purple dragon, Spyro, along with their young one Sparx, who hatched the same day. After an attack, many years later, Spyro learns he can breathe fire and therefore is not a dragonfly like his "brother" Sparx. Spyro decides to leave the swamp to find his true home, and Sparx comes with. Spyro finds Ignitus who reluctantly takes him to the temple. Ignitus helps train Spyro and sends him off to rescue three dragons from the evil Cynder's clutches. -
The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night was released on October 2nd, 2007 for Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance and the Nintendo Wii.
This game is similar to the previous and first in the Legend series. It starts off with Spyro following Cynder through the jungle that surrounds the Dragon Temple. Spyro catches up with her and asks her not to leave, but Cynder leaves and says she's sorry for what she has done (in the previous game). Soon after, the Temple is attacked by apes. Spyro repels the attack, and Ignitus sends Spyro to find a tree he saw in a vision that will give back the powers he lost in the previous game. -
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon was released on October 21st, 2008 for Playstation 2 and 3, Nintendo DS and Wii, and XBOX 360.
Spyro and Cynder awaken in the future, and set out to stop The Dark Master from spreading his evil across the world. In the game, you can switch between Spyro and Cynder at any time.
